From indoor to outdoor, residential or commercial, carpet, tile or wood, we have flooring to cover the smallest room or the whole house. Listed below are some various types of flooring and descriptions to help make your descision easier.
Laminate Flooring
Laminate Flooring is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product, fused together with a lamination process. Laminate flooring simulates wood with a photographic applique layer under a clear protective layer. The inner core layer is usually composed of melamine resin and fiber board materials. There is sometimes a glue backing for ease of installation. It has the advantages that it is durable, as compared with carpet, and attractive, at a lower cost as compared to natural floor materials.
Engineered Wood Flooring
Engineered Wood Flooring is a sandwich of 1/16" to 1/8" of finish wood on top and non-finish plywood underneath. So, what you're looking at is 100% genuine wood. Engineered Wood Floor is pre-finished. The top finish layer is pre-finished, which means that it's already sanded and sealed. As soon as the floor has been laid, you can walk on it. By contrast, unfinished solid hardwood must be sealed, and this requires waiting time before use. Note: solid hardwood is available pre-finished, as well. Engineered Wood Flooring can be sanded. The advantage of engineered wood flooring versus laminate is that engineered wood can be sanded after scratches and dings develop.
Ceramic Tiles
Ceramic tiles are a sought-after choice among consumers remodeling their home interiors or exteriors. This preference for ceramic tiles is logical, since they are a cheap tiling solution and offer incomparable options in pattern and colors. However, there is some confusion when opting for ceramic tiles as people often confuse them with porcelain tiles. ceramic tiles are recommended for indoor applications. Ceramic tiles usually offer either a glazed or an unglazed surface. Tiles with glazed surfaces are as reflective as glass. This makes them ideal for wall-based tiling needs. Unglazed ceramic tiles like Mosaic and Quarry tiles are better suited for indoor flooring needs.
Porcelain Tile
Porcelain tile offers a range of advantages that have contributed to its booming popularity. These tiles are stronger than regular ceramic tiles and are more resistant to moisture and frost. Porcelain tiles are ideal for use in high traffic areas and even the outdoors. Porcelain tiles are fired at very high temperatures and manufactured under high pressure. This gives them high strength and resistance to scratches, chemicals and fire. Porcelain tiles are available in unglazed, matte or highly polished finishing. Lower moisture absorption leads to lesser staining and easier cleaning. Porcelain tiles do not require sealing, and they can easily be cleaned with a damp mop or cloth. Porcelain tiles are available in many different styles and designs.
Carpet
Correctly chosen and installed carpeting should last for upwards of 20 years, and should provide your desired comfort and value. Some carpets and fibers are now maunfactured with the environment in mind, and can even be recycled. Carpet pad is also often recycled. Carpet, can help keep your feet warm in the winter, and when kept clean can even help with allergies if the right fiber is chosen.
Vinyl Plank
Typically, vinyl plank flooring mimics a real hardwood in every single way. They contain fake wood grain designs, and have a little bit of texture to them, to give them the character you would expect from wood. But unlike wood, vinyl plank flooring is stained and water resistant, so there is no risk of water damage. Plus, it’s more resistant to scratching, as well as sun bleaching, so you may find that your floors stay looking fantastic for longer, in addition to being lower in cost. But the real advantage of vinyl plank flooring is simply that it’s cheap and easy to install, making it a great looking affordable alternative for literally any home.
Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT)
VCT is a finished flooring material used primarily in commercial and institutional applications. [1] Vinyl tiles are composed of colored vinyl chips formed into solid sheets of varying thicknesses (1/8” is most common) by heat and pressure and cut into 12” squares. Tiles are applied to a smooth, leveled sub-floor using a specially formulated vinyl adhesive that remains tacky but does not completely dry. Tiles are typically waxed and buffed using special materials and equipment. Vinyl tile is favored over other kinds of flooring materials in high-traffic areas because of its low cost, durability, and ease of maintenance. Vinyl tiles have high resilience to abrasion and impact damage and can be repeatedly refinished with chemical strippers and mechanical buffing equipment. If properly installed, tiles can be easily removed and replaced when damaged. Tiles are available in a variety of colors from several major flooring manufacturers. Some manufacturers have created vinyl tiles that very closely resemble wood, stone, terrazzo, and concrete. Tiles can easily be cut and assembled into colorful and decorative patterns.
